The purpose of this correspondence is to advise adjacent and nearby landowners, the community and other stakeholders of the Development Application and to provide you with an opportunity to comment on the proposal. You have the opportunity to provide your written comments to the Shire on the above Development Application by 27 July 2026. By way of background, the Shire has received a Development Application from Mint Renewables Pty Ltd to establish a battery energy storage system (BESS) approximately 3km north-west of the Kojonup townsite. In summary, the application proposes: • BESS substation; • BESS units, inverters, transformers and cabling; • Operations and maintenance facility; • Water storage including new stormwater detention basin; • New vehicle access points; and • Ancillary development. Pursuant to Section 18 of the Bush Fires Act 1954 the Shire of Kojonup advises that the Shire has moved into the Restricted Burning Period. Due to recent rainfall, the risk of Bushfire spread has decreased. From Midnight 31 March 2026 – 30 April 2026, the Shire of Kojonup will be in the restricted burning period. Please note: • Consult your local Fire Control Officer for a Permit to Burn your property and adhere to all restrictions, conditions and advice given on the permit. • It is the responsibility of the person addressed on the Permit to Burn to control that fire, with fines or prosecution possible for contraventions to that permit. • The Shire of Kojonup has the authority to extend the Restricted Burning period further from the 30th of April should conditions warrant.
