GOVERNANCE OFFICER

The Shire of Kojonup is recruiting a Governance Officer to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.

The Governance Officer will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of the Shire’s governance functions in accordance with Local Government legislation. The Governance Officer will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Elected Council Members to maintain compliance and adhere to policies and procedures that govern the Shires operations. The Governance Officer will also support the CEO with general and executive assistance on a regular basis.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working in Local Government and demonstrate strong capability across governance and administration functions. They will possess advanced organisational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines with confidence. Highly developed digital, written, and verbal communication skills are essential as well. The candidate must be able to interpret relevant legislation, support decision-making processes, and provide governance advice to internal and external stakeholders. This role is one where continuous improvement, confidentiality, and ethical practice will be critical to being successful.

Employment offer

This role will be offered on an hourly basis determined by the successful candidates’ experience and the Shire of Kojonup Enterprise Bargaining Agreement plus compulsory superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee Legislation Act 1992.
