I declare that I, the undersigned, make application for the registration of the dogs/cats described above and declare the information to be true and correct. I am aware that it is an offence to provide false and misleading information. a. I am, or the Owner is not under 18 years of age; b. The particulars shown in this application are correct to the best of my knowledge and belief; and c. I certify for the purposes of section 16 (1a) 16, (1ba) & (C) of the Dog Act that means exist on the premises at which the dog will ordinarily be kept for effective confining the dog with in those premises.*

Dog Registration Notes

• Registrations periods run from 1 November to 31 October each year. The expiry date of this registration is shown on the front of
the form and can also be found on your dog's registration tag.
• First time one year registrations received on or after 1 June each year are subject to a 50% concession on the fees set out below.
• All dogs aged three months and over must be registered. A penalty of $200 may apply.
• Dogs must at all times wear a current registration tag attached to their collar, together with a tag bearing the owner's name and
current address. This will help us reunite you with your dog should it become lost.
• It is important to remember to notify the Shire of Kojonup immediately of any change of address or ownership of the dog, even if
that change occurs outside the Shire of Kojonup.
• As of 15 November 2015, all dogs are required to be microchipped unless exempt.
• Retired racing greyhounds are not required to wear a muzzle in public if they have successfully completed an approved training
program.


Dangerous Dogs

here are three categories of dangerous dogs:
• Those that are of a breed specifically bred for its aggression, known as restricted breeds;
• Those individual dogs that have shown themselves to be aggressive and are consequently declared to be a dangerous dog; and
• Commercial security dogs that are trained to demonstrate aggressive behaviour when actively working.
Owners must:
• Put up warning signs
• Keep dogs muzzled and leashed when in public and in the control of a person over 18 who is capable of controlling the dog,
• Keep the dog in a child proof enclosure from which it cannot escape and from which it cannot be released without the authorisation
of the person responsible for the dog
• Ensure the dog wears a prescribed collar which identifies it as a dangerous dog.
• Registrations for dangerous dogs will only be renewed annually under section 15.3A of the Dog Act 1976 .


Restricted Breeds

Pit Bull Terrier breed or American Pitt Bull Terrier, Fila Brasileiro (Brazilian fighting dog), Japanese Tose, Dogo Argentina (Argentinan
fighting dog) and Perro depresa Canario.
Registrations for restricted breeds will only be renewed annually under the section 15.3A of the Dog Act 1976.

• Cats must at all times wear a current registration tag attached to their collar. This will help us reunite you with your cat should it
become lost.
• It is important to remember to notify the Shire of Kojonup immediately of any change of address or ownership of the cat, even if
that change occurs outside the Shire of Kojonup


Animal Registration Fees

Concession Holders
• The above concession can only be obtained upon production of a current eligible Pensioner Concession card (as defined in the Rates
and Charges (Rebate and Deferments) Act 1992) in the name of the owner of the Animal to be registered
• The above concession for a sterilised Animal can only be obtained upon production of a registered Veterinary Surgeon's Sterilisation
Certificate or Statutory Declaration signed by the Animal owner. A partial refund is obtainable when you sterilise an Animal currently
registered as unsterilised.
